THE STORY BEHIND THE SOUND
deepsleep started with a simple observation: the tools we use to relax shouldn't stress us out.
I'd been using various ambient sound apps and websites for years, and I noticed a pattern. The good ones required subscriptions. The free ones were cluttered with ads. Most were either overly complex or too limited. None of them let me mix multiple sounds the way I wanted.
So I built my own.
What started as a personal project — a single HTML page with three sound themes — gradually grew into something more. Friends asked for it. Then strangers found it online. The feedback was consistent: people valued the simplicity, the lack of paywalls, and the ability to combine sounds freely.
deepsleep is a one-person project built with the belief that something as simple as a browser playing sounds should be freely available to improve people's lives.
No accounts, no subscriptions, no clutter. Open the page and start mixing sounds in seconds.
Every sound is carefully selected and processed for realistic, immersive listening experiences.
Available to anyone with a browser. No sign-up required. No personal data collected.
Mix sounds in any combination. No restrictions on what you can layer together.
deepsleep now features 13 sound themes — 8 natural environments and 5 color noises — all freely mixable. The Pomodoro timer, breathing guide, and scene presets are included without restriction.
The project is supported entirely through voluntary donations. If you find deepsleep valuable, you can support its development through the Ko-fi button on the main page. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps keep the project running and ad-free.
There's still a long list of improvements I want to make. Independent volume per sound, more high-quality audio sources, better offline support, and a more refined visual experience. The project grows slowly but deliberately — each change is tested and considered before it's added.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening.
